Undergraduate program in Banking & Finance.


Mission Statement of the Department
The mission of the department of Banking and Finance is to provide a sound, and competitive banking and financial programme with the use of modern learning tools and practical field exposures to satisfy the expectations of the contemporary financial markets, by producing graduates majoring in Banking and Finance and graduates with a special minor option in Microfinance.

Objectives of the Degree Program
The department aims at givinging appropriate training to Banking and Finance students and  imparting into the graduates with skills that will enable them to :

(a.) Be critical and creative scholars capable of:

1) Providing innovative solutions to banking and finance problems.
2) Effectively applying research skills in banking and finance.

(b.) Be responsible and effective global citizens capable of:

1) Confidently engaging in national and international banking and finance activities.
2) Demonstrating competitive banking and finance knowledge and skills.

(c.) Possess a comprehensive understanding of their discipline and are able to meet the requirements of the Banking and Finance job markets.
(d.) Possess appropriate skills in use of multi-disciplinary decision making.

The curriculum the program is carefully selected to meet up the demands of its objectives using a carefully selected staff who are willing to are willing to handle student academic problems at any time. Our student-teacher ratio also enable the students to benefit alot from their teachers.


Students must complete a 4-weeks industrial attachment at the end of the second semester of their second year. This on-site work experience provides the student the opportunity to gain industrial experience before they graduate. During this process the students will be assessed based on their "on job" performance and also on a comprehensive written report by the student.

Admission Requirements
General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level passes in at least two subjects in the Arts or Sciences in addition to university requirements.

Future, Career and Employment
The following are some career possibilities that students can expect upon graduation:

1. Build a career in a finance department of major establishments and financial institutions.
2. Gain employment in retail, wholesale, international investment, funding, and banking services etc.

Also, this program serves as a very solid and broad platform for a lot of graduate programs in CATUC and other world class institution offering a graduate program that has a BSc. in Banking and Finance as a prerequisit such as all of our MBA programs. There are just so many of such programs in CATUC, Cameroon and abroad.
